Pollution Incident Response Management Plan
Concrush Pty Ltd has prepared a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP) for their Teralba Recycling Facility.
This document will contain details of the actions that Concrush will undertake (if required) in the way pollution incidents are reported, managed and communicated to the general community.
These actions are the result of changes in the environmental requirements introduced by the Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011 and the Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Amendment (Pollution Incident Response Management Plan) Regulations 2012.
The aim of this document is to ensure there is:
- comprehensive and timely communication about a pollution incident to Concrush staff, The Environmental Protection Authority, other relevant authorities and people outside the facility who may be affected by it.
- mechanisms in place to control the risk of a pollution event at Concrush by identifying risks and developing pre-emptive actions to minimise these risks; and
- a system in place identifying the people responsible for implementing our plan, ensuring that it is regularly tested for accuracy and suitability.
Under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 it is now required that all pollution incidents are reported to the EPA, NSW Health, Fire and Rescue NSW, SafeWork NSW and the Local Council when material harm to the environment is caused or threatened.
